SCUBA DIVING & SNORKELING

Underwater sights here on Ambergris Caye are truly breathtaking. The water stays a warm 82°F year-round! You can snorkel or dive at the same site every day and discover new fish each time—or explore new sites daily. With so many areas to scuba or snorkel, the possibilities are endless. As the second-largest barrier reef in the world, Ambergris Caye offers some of the most fantastic diving anywhere. This is the kind of diving that keeps divers coming back again and again. Tour operators can take you on local reef dives or boat you to even more exotic locales.

The Great Blue Hole

For millions of years, the Blue Hole was a dry cave, and during this time, huge stalactites and stalagmites slowly formed. When the last ice age ended thousands of years ago, sea levels rose about 300′, covering the cave. At some point, the ceiling collapsed, leaving the hole you see today. When diving the Blue Hole, you swim under what remains of the old ceiling to view the remaining stalactites and stalagmites. It’s a journey back in geologic history and unlike any other dive you’ll ever do. The maximum depth of the Blue Hole dive is 130′. Tour guides will pick you up right at the end of our pier for any of your trips.
